Today we are excited to announce that Blocs for iPad 1.2 is now available on the App Store. This is the biggest update to the iPad version of Blocs since it was first released back in May 2023.
To celebrate this exciting new version, we have created a promo video that highlights some of the fantastic new features in 1.2.
Desktop Interface Mode 🖥️
If you have an iPad that supports Stage Manager, you will be happy to hear that Blocs for iPad 1.2 introduces significant improvements when it’s being used on an iPad that is connected to an external display. Thanks to major interface improvements and reconfigurations, we are able to deliver a desktop experience that takes full advantage of the additional screen space when an iPad is using an external display.
This new feature alone, takes Blocs on the iPad to an entirely new level, making it a serious contender in the web design software space.
Horizontal Scroll Container ⬅️ ➡️
In Blocs for iPad 1.2, we are introducing a brand new container option that makes adding horizontal scrollable areas a breeze. With just a few taps, you can now switch long lists of content into horizontally scrollable lists, saving vertical space and making your web page designs more organised and easier on the eye.
Share Preview over Airdrop 📡
For a while now, it’s been possible to access a website being previewed in Blocs on any devices on the same local network. However, previously the process was cumbersome and not very user friendly. It required copying a custom url and typing it into the web browser on your other devices.
That all changes today!
With the release of Blocs for iPad 1.2, you can now quickly and easily share the preview of the website that you are working on in Blocs over AirDrop, to any other Apple devices such as iPhones, iPads and Macs. Perfect for testing responsive design features on actual devices or sharing progress on the website you’re building with other colleagues in your office.
Kaden Site Template 🎆
In Blocs for iPad 1.2, we are introducing a stunning new e-commerce site template we call Kaden. This template has been carefully crafted to work perfectly with Quick Start and is a great choice for modern online store websites.
Lock Classes 🔓
We love adding new features to Blocs that help to keep your websites organised. In Blocs for iPad 1.2, we have added the ability to lock classes which helps to prevent unintentional changes to classes and also stops classes used in your site dynamically, from being listed as unused.
Productivity⚡️
It’s not always the show stopping features that make the biggest impact, sometimes it’s the little productivity features that can make a world of difference to your day to day work!
In Blocs for iPad 1.2 we have added a range of smaller new features such as last save information to the close project button, updated the Follow Bric to use the new X (previously Twitter) icon, added a selection of new device screen sizes to preview mode and also added six brand new horizontal scroll Blocs.
As well as all of that, we also fixed a bunch of bugs and made various UX improvements across the app.
